What is a Mountpoint?
A mountpoint is a specific data stream from a GNSS reference station that provides correction signals to your device. Understanding mountpoints ensures accurate positioning and seamless connection.

Coordinate Systems
Mondo Pin provides the corrections in both GDA94 and GDA2020 as indicated at the start of each mountpoint.
94 (GDA94)
Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994 (GDA94) is the official geodetic datum of Australia before GDA2020. It replaced the Australian Geodetic Datum 1984 (AGD84) with a reference frame that aligns with the earth centre of mass, hance the term ‘geocentric’. GDA94 is a ‘plate-fixed’ or ‘static’ datum based on the International Terrestrial Reference Frame 1992 (ITRF92), held at the reference epoch of 1st January 1994.
20 (GDA2020)
Geocentric Datum of Australia 2020 (GDA2020) is the latest realisation of the Australian datum. Since 1994, the Australian plane tectonic has moved around ~7cm per year. Thus, this latest realisation will closely align the GDA2020 with the coordinate system used in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
In a practical sense, most projects in Australia will be working on either GDA94 or GDA2020 datum. Therefore, it is crucial that you select the correct mountpoint for the job. A difference of about 1.8m in horizontal and 90mm in vertical can be experienced if you selected a wrong mountpoint. For more information, please refer to the following links:
Solution Types
Mondo Pin also offers different type of solutions for our clients.
NEAR
NEAR is a single base solution which provides the correction messages from the nearest GNSS base station.
It is useful when you are less than 10km from a base station and require a consistency and repeatability result
VRS
Virtual Reference Station (VRS) solution provides the correction messages from the network of GNSS base stations. When connecting to a VRS mountpoint, our server will derive a virtual base station right where you are.
Therefore, it will work as though there are a base station right next to you. This mountpoint can be used anywhere in our network to provide an accurate result even when the base stations are far away.
For access to a specific base station or if you require any further information, please contact us directly on +61 457 577 067.
Message Types
Mondo Pin also provides different message types to cater for different type of receivers. We mainly focus on the RTCM message which is industry opensource standard of sending and receiving GNSS correction data.
MSM
Multi Signal Message (MSM) is a type of RTCM message which offers the best correction message available. It contains multiple frequencies from multiple satellite constellations, and it is also compatible with wide ranges of receivers.
VRS
RTCM3.0 is a predecessor of MSM message type. It is compatible with a wide variety of receivers including the older models. However, this message type only broadcast the correction for GPS and GLONASS constellations.
